Trinity Debate - 2005/04/17 18:44 For those of you who don't know, I've been invited to chair a Trinity debate at an old university of mine next weekend.

I'm pretty honoured to be asked (In fact, even remembered since I stopped most of my lecturing to have children)

Obviously, I have to be as unbiased as I can, but I've been reading the info I've been sent and I have to say, the non-trinity side looks pretty poor compared to the trinity side. This annoys me because, in all fairness, some of the arguments on e-watchman put the non-side very fairly and in far more detail.

You all know my personal opinion, that it's more about percieving God and then explaining something we percieve only partly with clumsy, imperfect words.

However, since I get to sum up at the end, I'm trying to write a good, simple conclusion that is not weighed to one side or the other. Being a complete luddite and with all the computer know-how of, say, your average garden snail, I wondered if anyone here can "link" me up to any good anti-trinitarian sites that do not rely on straw men (ie building up silly arguements for the express purpose of demolishing them, such as "Trinitarians believe in three Gods" etc.)

I was going to ask over on e-watchman, but, you know.

Shalom everyone, sorry I haven't been around for a while, I've had a problem logging in (probably a problem your average garden snail would have sorted out much more quickly!!! )

Lots of shalom to everyone. (yep Mars, even you. )

you might want to try the site Jehovahs Witnesses United

this site has some good information about reasons for not believing the trinity

much Shalom

Re:Trinity Debate - 2005/04/18 15:32 Hi Ish and Flowerchild,

For me, a powerful text is 'let us create man in our image' - setting aside the fact there is more than one being doing the creating, they are creating man in their image!

The various articles I have read that support the trinity, have spent a large portion of their pages trying to convince the reader they can never understand God so we should expect his person to be inexplicable: 'The trinity is a mystery that cannot be understood; so it must be true'.

But we are created in the image of God and His Word, A father and a son. Of inteligent creation, man is the only one that knows the what it means to be a father and/or a son. A father and a son, can be of the same mind, or be in union with one another - work together to achieve the one goal, but they are still separate beings.

Just a thought.

peace
