Looking forward to getting to know you all.
Love to you all from Minnie.

Hi Minnie, I have been meaning to catch up - there have been so many posts lately it has taken me a little while to get back to this one.

First it is very nice to meet you. I really hope you like it here and that it proves a place of peace and love.

I noted your comment above and can see why you really appreciate "undeserved kindness". I agree with Warrior though. I like the term grace and I have been using it more and more lately because IMO it imparts something more than we who are or have been JWs have understood.

In a way, the term "undeserved" can have a connotation of judgement - the notion that you don't actually deserve this kindness - after all you are a sinner. I prefer the connotation of "mercy". Why I prefer this term is because we ourselves did not bring this sinful situation about. If you go by the situation in Eden we are being punished for something we did not do. Creation has been subjected to futility by no act of ours.

The mercy and grace to me is in the form of a real longing on Gods part in respect of our situation pending our release. By that mercy he just wants us to be released. He has provided a means for that. As Warrior has mentioned that knowledge then lifts us above the wretchedness of our condition. So rather than judgement it is hope!

Just my thoughts for now

Look forward to hearing more.

Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. If anyone thinks he has acquired knowledge of something, he does not yet know it just as he ought to know it. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by him - 1 Cor 8:1-3

Re:undeserved kindness - 2005/03/13 21:29 Ah hope.
Tikvah.
HaTikvah (the hope) is Israel's national anthem.

Without hope we all might as well be dead. Hoping for something makes it possible for us to actively push toward the thing for which we are hoping.

As for grace, it makes the impossible possible.

Shalom.

Re:undeserved kindness - 2005/03/21 14:43 Thank you so much for all your posts on this subject. I found the link to the phrase or word grace real food for thought. I've only heard that word being associated to other religions so like someone else said it doesn't roll off my tounge easily. As someone else posted (sorry I can't remember who, I am still trying to navigate my way around this site), undeserved does have a judgemental connatation to it. Jehovah extends his kindness to those that 'he' wishes - there is nothing judgemental about that is there? Reading about other peoples feelings on "undeserved kindness" brings tears to my eyes and I am thankful to Jehovah for making it possible for me to meet a loving bunch of people.
Much love to you all and your families. Minnie
