Re:Watchtower and uncanny power - 2005/03/21 16:19
Hi servent1 and all you others out there. A few weeks ago I did some reading in the proclaimers book and what I got out of it was that we are just like any other religion. Russell comments about his admiration for the seventh adventists. I feel that he was a genuine seeker of truth but when he started praising men for helping him to see the truth and for making the truth clearer to him, I found that hard to stomach. We can only credit our own knowledge of the truth to Jehovah! Not to men. I found it hypocritical in some aspects and presumptous. Now that I am not associated with the witnesses (not thru my own doing I might add) Jehovah has really opened my eyes to see the real issues, and for me that involves improving my own relationship with Jehovah, taking care of my family and endeavouring to let God's holy spirit direct me in everything that I do. My family and I have dealt with crap from ones in the organization and it is scary to see the control that they have over people! I could dwell on all the bad things about what has happened to us, but I have found that by no longer going to the meetings and reading their magazines, I don't have to sieve out the lies from the truth and I am much happier by doing my own study and allowing Jehovah to teach me. I understand that we all live under different circumstances, but the most important thing we can always remember is that we personally are endeavouring to do our best, in our imperfect state, to show love to everyone! I know that this site is under the direction of Jehovah's spirit, so for those that still go to the meetings for various reasons we can thank Jehovah that this is another avenue were we can gain encouragement from one another. Much love to you and your families. Keep close to Jehovah. Much love Minnie
