Face Down to God - 2005/04/07 02:56 At times Catholic priests, and maybe all Catholics I don't know, will prostrate themselves by lying face down on the floor or ground with arms outstretched in reverence and prayer to God.

It is a very moving posture to take before God. The heart is impelled towards God and his Son. It brings peace if one does it with sincerity and in humble prayer.

Just thought I would share that here, in the most loving and spiritual board I have known.

Peace, love and God's spirit to all here,
Josh

Re:Face Down to God - 2005/04/07 07:40 Hi Josh

I pray in different positions ... depending ....

I note that Warrior once prayed ... tearfully ... on the floor ... huddled I think ... I've been there too ... but that is the fetal position ...

For a long time my own personal favorite ... was by the side of my bed ... I feel like a little kid with my Daddy ... so very close ... somehow I have the best conversations there ...

But now I am growing up in my relationship ... and as a beloved Child of God ... I choose more dignity ... and it is as if I face my Father ... as He would want me to ... for I want to see Him face to face ...

Josh ... I so appreciate your posts ... and that everyone here is learning to respect ... individual variations ... as we each progress in our personal understandings ... and though our destination is the same ... I think we each are being lead ... on our own path ... lovingly orchastrated for us ... and as we share what we experience ... from our path ... we may open up vistas the others hadn't seen yet ...

Re:Face Down to God - 2005/04/07 17:28 Getting "on your face before God" means just that. On your face. Literally.

I remember once after a particularly powerful worship time, the entire church (there were only about twenty of us) were in this exact position, crying, the glory and power of God was so tangible. What else can you do but submit?

It's a good position. Don't know why.

Shalom.
