Just wondering why you were so impressed with the new book
I am receptive to all people and sources to learn truth. Even to those that are not receptive. This book is well illustrated and excellently designed as a study aid. It covers some of the most fundamental christian truth's that are need to get past all the lies and contradictions of Christendom. All of us on this forum would probably agree with at the least 90% of what is in the book. I myself am at peace with 100% of what it teaches. It does not contradict what I teach. ABM would probably agree 100% with it as well. Some may disagree on some of the points in the chapter on baptism. That's fine, then that would be a good conversation to have. The point though is that we must make disciples. So, the basic truth's in this book are a useful tool to help you observe Jesus commission.
and if there were any "new truths" at the convention.
To my knowledge, no new truths. One comment I heard from a sister siting behind me was that "the drama was less dogmatic this year" so that is always good.
Also, what did you refer to the convention in the terms you used?
The tittle of the convention was "Godly obedience". When the governing body member spoke this is what I understood him to mean. However when the other brothers spoke I understood them to mean "watchtower obedience". That is because of all the self-talk and yes men they have inadvertently equated the watchtower with God. How dare we question God, I mean the watchtower. 
I've often worked as "security" at conventions and I know the instructions (and feelings) behind what the brother was doing. He was probably just told by someone who didn't know him 'He's an apostate. Keep an eye on him.' Nothing more.
'He was out of line and just following the most minimal of instructions. More a gut reaction than a plot. I'm sure the Society would be embarrassed to hear about this.
Yeah I hope so. After being man handled by an elder and then him lying about it in my JC and with the other elders suggesting it does not matter if it were true I am certain the watchtower would never admit to such a plot if there was one.
