Bible Account of Joseph - 2005/09/05 23:43 I often find some very profound discernments when surfing the Internet Wilderness.

Here is something which encourages me to read the bible account of Joseph with more care:

Please see the insights left by a poster named "ant".

I believe the Bible account of Joseph in his twelve brothers pretty much parallels the situation as you have described it.

Joseph was sold into slavery and shipped off to Egypt by his older brothers in a similar way that the younger annointed today are being disfellowshiped and shipped off to the world.

Why did his brothers deal with him so? They became jealous over him because of the prophetic dreams he was having and declaring to them.

While in Egypt Joseph discerned Pharoah's dream of the seven years of plenty followed by the seven years in famine.

Jesus asked "Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master has appointed over his domestics to give them their food at the proper time."

In a similar way Joseph asked Pharoah to seek out a man "wise and discreet" to get this food during the years of plenty and distribute it. Phaoah concluded that no one was "as discreet and wise" as Joseph was.

Joseph oversaw the ingathering of this food and stored it up for distrubition during the years of famine.

Is it a matter of coincidence that much spiritual food is coming from the outside, Egypt as it were, by newly annointed who have been placed outside the organziation, sold out by their older brothers.

When the famine came Joseph's betrayers came to get food from Egypt because a deep famine began to affect the land. Before Joseph accepted them back he made a test to see if their hearts had changed. The test revolved around their youngest brother Benjamin.

Joseph wanted to see if they would betray him from jealously just as they had betrayed him. He arranged a meal and during the course of the meal he provided 5 times the food portion to the youngest member of them.

But to his happiness the brothers were not willing to sell out young Benjamin. What a change of heart!

Joseph revealed himself to his brothe.. He comforted them and told them not to worry for Joseph discerned Jehovah's hand in the matter. He said, "But now do not feel hurt and do not be angry with yourselves because you sold me here; because for the preservation of life God has sent me ahead of you."

I firmly believe that today Jehovah is making such loving provisions for the famine that is soon to come. It is a spiritual famine that has been prophesied by Amos (Amos 8:11) and Joel (Joel chapter 1). I believe Revelation chapter 8 parallels and reinforces this.

Praise Jehovah the Creator of all things!
