1 : renunciation of a religious faith
2 : abandonment of a previous loyalty : DEFECTION
2 Thessalonians 2:3
3 Let no one seduce YOU in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction.
Is the apostasy mentioned in 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2 a good or a bad thing?
Please note that a 1st Century apostasy was recommended by Jesus Christ himself:
Luke 21:21
21 Then let those in Ju·de´a begin fleeing to the mountains, and let those in the midst of her withdraw, and let those in the country places not enter into her;
Matthew 24
16 then let those in Ju·de´a begin fleeing to the mountains.
Apostacy = abandonment or fleeing, withdrawing and not entering.
When is apostasy a good thing?
When Jesus himself tells you to do it.
Let the reader use discernment!

Re:When is Apostasy a good thing? - 2005/09/23 03:38It is in this Internet Wilderness that I find many people who have abandoned the following loyalty:
This is quoted from the June 1st 1985 Watchtower Magazine on page 30:
Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization?"
I am convinced this is the apostasy mentioned in 2Thessalonians2, Matthew 24 and Luke 21.

Re:Do you forgive the Organization - 2005/09/23 04:47Wuji wrote: Greetings,
Perhaps for beginners we need to define what the 'organisaton' is exactly.
You cannot forgive an 'organisation'. You can only forgive persons in an organisation. In this case, the people at the top of JW world. The way I see it, the 'organisation' is the very leaders of the Watchtower Society. The other 6 million are just all held in captivity to the erroneous idea that God is only using the few men behind the WTS as his channel for all spiritual communication to the planet. So that is who you appear to be talking about, a few old men in Walkill, New York.
The mistakes, deceit, and sins of the WTS leaders are well documented on many sincere websites. There is no denying that the WTS has 'sinned' in a number of important ways. Anyone who doesn't recognise this is totally biased or blinkered.
No, I honestly don't think these men at the WTS believe they have sinned at all. What evidence at all is there to imagine they have? Absolutely none. I'm positive that they are absolutely sure they have Jehovah 100% behind them and that the WTS entity has not sinned one little bit. Why are they blinded to their own errors? Because the WTS leaders are just as convinced that the WTS is God's sole channel as all the common publishers below them are.
No comment on the rest of your post as I didn't care for the tone. Sounds like you are trying to put across a little guilt trip on those who choose not to go 'door-to-door' JW style. I take the same position as Wuji. A corporation is not a person contrary to what there lawyers would have you believe. I do not need to forgive a corporation do I? It is not a person, I do not need to love it. Infact if it were a person it would be considered a psycopath to which I would feel sympathy for it's very existence and sadness for the idolitry given this "person" by many who claim to be christain. The watchtower corporation does not represent the christain brotherhood any more then walmart represents it's workers and customers.
Wuji pegged you on the guilt trip. Lets face it, door to door corporate sales men will never compare to those living the truth. We don't need to look down on you as an individual but niether do we need to be ignorant of your corporate pretentions.

Re:Do you forgive the Organization - 2005/09/23 22:00rr how you doing yeah your right there I think we are all looking for deliverence from this system, thank Jah we have a hope.
wuji
Bro the Jews were an org werent they. They sin aganst Jah plenty didnt they? Yet what Jah say get out of her I dont think so He forgave them constantly right up to the point where he thought there was no turning back and he allowed them to be killed, But what did he do in there final few hours he gave them a chance to escape to get out of Jerusalem. Those servents outside were told to run to the hills not change there beliefs but thier direction, not to change thier faith but thier attitude there place of worship. Many did not heed the warnings did not run including Daniel and hios three companions, whom Jah used to return worship to Jehovah through Cyrus a WORDLY ruler.
Many today believe that we are to run to the hills ok maybe I dont know But why judge those who follow the org why judge the org it still Jehovahs isnt it even if it commits adultry Jehovah is a forgiving God. I mean who really has the teruth You, Me, the Catholic I dunno? But if Jah is reading the heart and we do something to bring him what we think, to be glory, How do you think Jah will take it so what if we got it wrong, Going to meeting talking about Jehovah telling others about Jah wether it be door to dorr or through life experiences, whatever Jehovah being a god of LOVE 2 Cor 13, He will see it for what we want it to be, to bring him glory. Dont forget this is my humble opinion, (funny I believed all I was told, what really dose my opinion mean eh?)
Ablebod, Shot bro some interesting point there, especially when I have been called an apostate I dont know bro I just tryin to figure out what it all about Jehovah is my God my Father, But he not always easy to understand But I know he with me even though I sin, he knows I m not a practiser of sin I just keep on sinnig. Going from door to door dose have to be considered salesman job I think most are sincere about what Jehovah has done for them and they get the nerve to tell others they will be bless by Jah. I go to most meetings, havent been on feild for about 2 and ahalf yrs or so. Dont think i feel guilty it take a hell of alot to make feel guilty what I am saying is dont go dissin something that you dont do because you believe it to be wrong but dont know if it is!!
And my they way Relax take it easy, I dont think I have precontentions actually sorry bro I dont even know what the hell that means. hey I got to go take it easy eh we ll catch up later
