Re:The JW Org Treat Women Equally? - 2005/04/30 02:06 Warrior,

I love the perspective you have. God made Eve as a compliment, or helper. The problem comes in when Adam and Eve sinned. Had that not happened women wouldn't be abused, disrespected, ignored, belittled--all the things that women face today. Things would have worked out naturally, the way God intended.

I do agree that many religions twist the bible to make women more subservant than they were created to be. The only one I can really speak for are the JW's because that's the only one I was a part of. To use the "submissive wife" line on a woman who is being beaten is evil. On the flip side, the courts don't really do anything either. A woman is safer before she tries to leave and God help her if she has him locked up. He'll get out quickly. When I left my abusive husband 11 years ago, I had to go to a YWCA shelter for battered women. Harrowing experience.

There are many, many, women who are spokenly highly of in the bible. When Jesus was on earth he spoke to women about the kingdom. This was a time when women were REALLY second class citizens--just above the jackass.

Some men have that attitude today. Too bad for us they sometimes have a position of power.

Re:The JW Org Treat Women Equally? - 2005/04/30 02:46 That site I have mentioned here, Christians For Bibical Equality
http://www.cbeinternational.org/

It is very helpful cause you can click on this section they have their called FREE Articles..and there they have a index of words, such as this one you mentioned, "HELPER"..and there individuals have written different research essays with Scriptures quotes. This site is ran by a bunch of Protestants who fought against the sexist mentality of their own churches, such as the Southern Baptists. Because they are Protestants..they believe in the trinity, and obviosuly I don't...but this really has nothing to do with their research into this gender issue....It's like how the JW's often use and quote from Catholics enclopedias, ect.

I have found, personally, that researching and camparing what other faith groups who are fundamental in nature have had to deal with helps us realize that other religions besides JW's have the same sort of rigid religious BS to put up with as we have...On my own web page I have essays in which I compare dogmatic statements quotes from the likes of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Vatican to those of the dogmatic leadership of the JW org.

Re:The JW Org Treat Women Equally? - 2005/04/30 03:28 I agree that men and women both have different talents. A lion has is stronger but a Lepord is faster. Likewise science has proven that those men have stronger upper body strenght..women have better better agility in their legs for climbing. It's like if one person is a doctor on a Navy ship and another person on the ship is a scientist....then the scientist is not better than the doctor not vice-versa....

But..if one person is a Caption of the ship and the other is considered the swab who's job is to merely wash the deck..ah..then this IS different.

So if we look at it as Christ is the caption of the ship, the guy is the doctor and the women is the scientist..then these means the guy and girl are different but still equal...

However,

If we say that men is the caption or the doctor or a sciencitist..and the women is merely the swab who mops the floor..well, this is not equality..it is saying she is inferior...and this is what it seems like to me that the JW org teaches. They are like, "Sure women can insist in our Navy. They can even have the honor or serving on our ship...but they will never have any position like a specilaized scienstist or profossor MD..they can just be candy strippers..they can only "help" the doctors..but they can BE the doctors.
