Certainly not reason with them for they will kick you off or close the thread if anyone even trys to defend him. Especially if the defense is good.

XMNR has called Watchman on his opinion of Ray and this morning the site is down due to technical difficulties

I was pleasantly surprised with the thread as well. Actually I emailed watchman regarding his opinion of Ray about a year ago. Never got a reply. Oh well, I'm sure he has his reasons for his feelings.

I have never understood watchmans opinion of Ray , when actually they are alike, only difference is watchman still basically adheres to WTBTS and Ray moved on, I think Ray reacted the way he did because at the time, it was the only thing or choice he had.

I have read of times when Ray would be out in service in the day when bro and sis would get beat, and persecuted even tarred and feathered

My heart goes out to any who have had men judge them as not worthy,

Ray surely seemed to have not gotten treated right by the GB, just my insignificant thoughts

its very fishy that the DB at paradise cafe is still down, and its suspect to the discussion of Ray Franz that is the reason,

I wasn't surprised though at the amount of towards Franz because frankly a lot of the old timers are growing out of the EW mentallity. I can see that many are moving away from EW's propaganda that just leaves people spiritually stagnant. There is no spiritual growth the EW way. I also think that his judgemental dogmatic ways are only driving people away from him but not necesarily the board because they've made wonderful friends there.

I think he serves a purpose insofaras his essays help newly disgruntled JW's from going into a total meltdown. He gives them a reason to cling to something they've loved (WT) for so long. But as they slowly realize the Society has no place in God's future plan and they can't hack going to the meetings being complacent and putting on airs that there isn't anything wrong and they're in agreement with the Society on issues they really aren't they too start to pull away from the Society. EW makes the inevitable for many a slower process which really isn't a bad thing. He also provides a place where strong friendships are forged and people can pass along new ideas and interpretations.

So, what I see is many of the old timers are growing stronger spiritually and moving away from EW's ideologies but there will always be an influx of new ones because EW advertises the heck out of his site.

I've also become convinced that this guy is not looking for followers. He doesn't participate enough to try to keep people wrapped around his finger. Also, if you notice he rarely ever responds to the cooing over him. I'm not so sure he's all that concerned with the average rank and file hearing him ... I think he's interested in the top dogs attention. And I think he's got it. I think they're paying more attention to him then they ever did Ray Franz. When they came out that they were revamping the Awake! magazine I just got an uncanny feeling that it was to much of a coinkidink between his essay and the change in the magazine.

So yeah, he's rude, abrasive, obnoxious and his hermeneutics are attrocious but I think he's helping to reveal the truth about the Society and he's provided a place for hurting JW's to talk about their owies and that aint a bad thang.
