Re:The Use of Insulting Theological Terms - 2005/05/11 07:54
But come on guys - in the end - it's only words - labels. Like when I was a JW - I was not considered a "Christian" to other religious denominations(but I considered myself one and considered my beliefs and actions to be in-line with being a "Christian".) Now that I'm out of the WT - my former JW associates don't think of me as "Christian"(but of course I do...) LOL! So it looks like if I took to heart everyone else's opinion of me - well, might as well dig a hole! So you do your best to live up to the all-encompassing greatest commandements - love God and neighbor - with actions to befit that love. Does God require more, more, more? Jesus asked if there would be faith in the world when he returned - not "Oh, how many will understand all the doctrines correctly?" IMO - we're not true "Christians" unless our consciences coincide with ours words and actions - no matter what relious label we apply to ourselves and whatever our beliefs. It matters not what label others try to stick us with! Like the amhaarrets(sp!), heathens and rejected Jews in Jesus' day - some of the lowliest of mankind(plus a few soft-hearted Pharisees!).... they were the ones following Jesus and listening to every word. Maybe they were the only ones humble enough in heart to be able to "see" and "hear"; or having been rejected by the 'holy ones' - they still recognized in themselves the need for God, and Christ was revealed to them. The ones with a self-righteous attitude weren't looking or listening! We can't make someone's attitude change.... much as we'd like to. lol! But, if we humble our own hearts, what others 'call' us won't be an insult. It won't matter a bit - for you know who you are and what you are and where you stand with your Father and His Son. That's all that matters and that's the TRUTH! With love to you all, no matter what you "call" yourselves! Bea (of the iconoclast class.!)
