Re:The Use of Insulting Theological Terms - 2005/05/11 05:40 BOE, none of those quotes of mind saying anything about you being "unchristian."

Perhaps what we need to define from the scriptures, "what is a Christian?" "What is it's purpose?"

You and I know, that so many call themselves "Christians" but really are not. Jesus testified to this, even among those who dod wonderful works in his name. So there is something more than just believing in Jesus and doing good to be constituted a Christian.

Re:The Use of Insulting Theological Terms - 2005/05/11 06:07 If an individual calls a fellower restore believer "UnChristian" than it the same as saying I am UnChristian as well..whether it is a follower Retored Earth believer on here, Beliefnet or anywhere....I mean, if someone calls John The Baptist "UnChristian", or "Not truely a follower of Christ....-" merely on the grounds that he desires to live on the earth...then it is the same as calling me" UnChristian" or "Not a true fellower of Christ."

If someone expresses to you that they believe themselves to be "Christian" and then another Christian tells them that they believe them to actually be "UnChristian" then obviously they are going to feel insulted.

Re:The Use of Insulting Theological Terms - 2005/05/11 07:54 But come on guys - in the end - it's only words - labels. Like when I was a JW - I was not considered a "Christian" to other religious denominations(but I considered myself one and considered my beliefs and actions to be in-line with being a "Christian".) Now that I'm out of the WT - my former JW associates don't think of me as "Christian"(but of course I do...) LOL! So it looks like if I took to heart everyone else's opinion of me - well, might as well dig a hole! So you do your best to live up to the all-encompassing greatest commandements - love God and neighbor - with actions to befit that love. Does God require more, more, more? Jesus asked if there would be faith in the world when he returned - not "Oh, how many will understand all the doctrines correctly?"
IMO - we're not true "Christians" unless our consciences coincide with ours words and actions - no matter what relious label we apply to ourselves and whatever our beliefs. It matters not what label others try to stick us with! Like the amhaarrets(sp!), heathens and rejected Jews in Jesus' day - some of the lowliest of mankind(plus a few soft-hearted Pharisees!).... they were the ones following Jesus and listening to every word. Maybe they were the only ones humble enough in heart to be able to "see" and "hear"; or having been rejected by the 'holy ones' - they still recognized in themselves the need for God, and Christ was revealed to them. The ones with a self-righteous attitude weren't looking or listening!
We can't make someone's attitude change.... much as we'd like to. lol! But, if we humble our own hearts, what others 'call' us won't be an insult. It won't matter a bit - for you know who you are and what you are and where you stand with your Father and His Son. That's all that matters and that's the TRUTH!
With love to you all, no matter what you "call" yourselves!

Re:The Use of Insulting Theological Terms - 2005/05/11 12:20 True words, Bea

Bea
" Like when I was a JW - I was not considered a "Christian" to other religious denominations(but I considered myself one and considered my beliefs and actions to be in-line with being a "Christian".) None of can MAKE these individuals STOP labeling people with unflattering and insulting terms..but I, for my part, have no desire to tag others insulting lables..because as you said, I remeber when JW's did this..and I don;t want to copy that extremist and intolerant behavior.

"IMO - we're not true "Christians" unless our consciences coincide with ours words and actions - no matter what relious label we apply to ourselves and whatever our beliefs."

It would be appreicated if such individuals would stop giving us explainations of why they continue the need to discribe those of different beliefs with insulting terms..but if they choose to coninue on this way..then they will merely display themselves to be like the fundamentalist JW's that once were unkind to us..whatever denominational name or group they choose to associate themselves with now.

Well, Bea and I have decided to not label others with theolgoically insulting terms...anyone else care to join us?

Re:The Use of Insulting Theological Terms - 2005/05/12 03:58 I found your comments funny BOE. Because the only reason why I came on this forum is because you were "labeling" Bible Students as "anti-earth". Isn't that a label? Why not take your own advice?!!

Re:The Use of Insulting Theological Terms - 2005/05/12 08:32 To be honest, I don't much care what people label me.

As long as God says I'm his, that's all I care about.

Who cares if anyone labels you anti-christian, goyim, apostate, cultish, goat etc, we should only worry when God does not call us his children.

Personally, I find it marginally amusing that I'm probably labelled a Goat by most of eWatchman's site and maybe this one. It's the human way to find people like us and label everyone else. Its playground behaviour but its a sign of insecurity half the time.

Much shalom.
