VERSE OF THE DAY - 2005/06/15 21:27 Hi Flowerchild, as requested you can use this thread for the verse of the day.

I have made it sticky so it stays at the top of this forum.

Much love to you

Re:VERSE OF THE DAY - 2005/06/15 23:41 Nothing but a wisp of a fog.

And now I have a word for you who brashly announce, "Today, at the latest, tomorrow, we're off to such and such a city for the year. We're going to start a business and make a lot of money."

You don't know the first thing about tomorrow. You're nothing but a wisp of a fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing.

Instead make it a habit to say, "If the Master wills it and we're still alive, we'll do this or that".

The Message Bible ....James 4:13-15

I believe that the Master wants us to acknowledge that all things depend on His will, that we have the day because it was the Masters will, the sunshine for light , the air that we breathe to sustain us, all things depend on the Father and Son , even the air we breathe.

May the God of all tender mercies watch over us all

Sandra

Re:VERSE OF THE DAY - 2005/06/16 01:54 Sandra, I've never heard of the Message Bible. It's a nice way to express this thought. Although I do have a very strong allegiance to the NWT sometimes it's good to get a second opinion. The "wisp of a fog," indeed. People get so consumed with thinking that their daily lives are so important, when it can all be over in a heart-beat and then what does one have to show for their brief existence? I wonder if a Witness person at the end of their lives would say,
" I wish I'd have been able to get to one more meeting?"

Re:VERSE OF THE DAY - 2005/06/16 04:31 We take a lot for granted. We generally assume that God gaves us this life and that we then choose what to do with it. We make grand plans and perhaps expect great fortunes. After all, we respect God and we have something that we can use to do these great things. But we forget the connection. We have the things because God allows it. Sure we have free will to do as we please, but there are times that God's free will might bring our plans to ruin. If no king or president has their position and their power except by the grace of God, then neither do we.

Nice to see you're still here.

Re:VERSE OF THE DAY - 2005/06/16 11:22 Yeah, still here. We're still working out the details of where I'll end up and some other things. I'll likely be around a couple more days. But considering the 'distractions' involved I won't actually do much posting. The only reason I did this was because the thought was provided for me, so didn't have to think about it much.
