Greetings to all brothers and sisters
When reading the verse for the day, it says to keep asking the God of our Lord Jesus Christ to give us a spirit of wisdom that we may know Him, ..to know Him or to know about Him?
coming to know a person is different than knowing about a person, we can have facts about a person but we don't personally know them, we can ask God to use his Spirit to help us know him, not just knowing facts about him.
The Spirit not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you're thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God..except that he not only knows what He's thinking, but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don't have to rely on the world's guesses and opinions. We didn't learn this by reading books or going to school, we learned it from God, who taught us person-to-person through Jesus, and we're passing it on to you in the same firsthand, personal way.
The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can't recieve the gifts of God's Spirit. There's no capacity for them. they seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by Spirit...Gods spirit and our spirits in open communion Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God's Spirit is doing and can't be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiahs question, "Is there anyone around who knows God's Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing? " has been answered: Christ knows, and we have Christs's Spirit. ..The Message Bible 2:10-16
I especially like where it says that we don't rely on reading books or going to school or according to the world to know the gifts of salvation , but God will teach us through His Son Christ Jesus and we will have the Spirit of Christ
Now I realize that JW will apply these scriptures to the anointed, but its not, as Jesus would have us all come to understand what it means to have salvation., Jesus said he would send the comforter the Holy Spirit, to lead us into all truth, and I believe him
The Father and the Son would have all come to know them through the Holy Spirit, not just know about them., but knowthem intimately, know how they think and what they are planning , they let us in on their plans and how they feel
I have been a jW for 30 plus years and I know the difference in knowing about and having knowledge and coming to know and have a personal relationship, so this is something I've experienced, and there is a difference, the scripture has come alive for me and is personally speaking to me, before I saw it as a group thing, I actually had an elder tell me that Jehovah did not deal with us on an individual basis, and I was just flabergasted, that he would have the gall to say something so ignorant, sorry but its a good thing that in our ignorance we are forgiven in a large way, as God overlooks our ignorance, thankfully, as he is the God of all tender mercies .
