"And spirits of prophets are subject to prophets."- Darby-1889

"And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets."- Douay-Rheims-1899

Could there be a slight chance that πνευματα is actually spirits just as the original text suggests?

If you like your metaphor of "Breaths" consider copying your usage at Hebrews 1:14;

"Aren’t they all just breaths, public servants who are sent to serve the needs of those who will inherit salvation?"

You should also note that the original text is plural, in verse 7 as well. So it's breaths not breath.

"When He spoke of his messengers, He said, ‘He makes His messengers as breath and His public servants as flames of fire.’"

That way we don't have to discuss grammer issues which you will be able to see for yourself.

For example; (1 Corinthians 14:32) Your correction reads;

"Of course, the spirits of prophecy should be controlled by the prophets,"

To say "of prophecy" in Greek the noun must be genitive, singular and feminine. At least to my understanding.

However the Greek text in this verse is προφητων which is a noun that is genitive, plural and masculine.

That word is always translated as "of prophets".

Please recognize that the Greek Scripture portion of the 2001 Translation is now several years old and that we are currently spending most of our time translating the Septuagint (and are working on 2 Chronicles and Daniel at the moment), so we don't have the time to go back and check all the words. However, we appreciate and invite your input and help, and will continue to make corrections as they are pointed out to us.
