Re:Jw Reform From WithIn Or Out? - 2005/07/28 11:46 You can think all you want. However there have been "anointed" throughout the 2000 years of christianity. Did every single bible prophecy revolve around each and every one of them in all times? We can be sure there have been Christians from each era to argue for such in there own case. In this respect we are no different, and invariably in our case the fullfillment will possibly and equally be not true as well.

The annointed were individually successfull when they recognised the prophecies which applied to their time period. I hope you agree there are many instance where Old Testament prophecies were quoted in situations regarding the annointed throughout the New Testament.

All they did was pursue and tell the truth.

If some believed them they were saved, if they didn't believe they were lost.

The annointed are only held accountable if they did not invest their talent even if it was only with the bankers.

Their success was not dependant on proving to other people that they were annointed.

Re:Jw Reform From WithIn Or Out? - 2005/07/28 12:40 Will you or anyone else believe it's the truth only if you hear Jehovah himself speaking it? If this is not your criteria for measuring the truth then what is?
Some how I thought the topic was "who is the anointed" or channel of God.

Do you believe that all truth only comes from the anointed?

I thought the topic was in regard to wether JW's will reform from the inside or not.

I responded with a scripturaly supported reason why the JW's will be broken to pieces, cleansed and reorganised into a wonderfull and righteous arangement.

I suspect that some people may be reasoning that I am posting these things in order to prove that I am annointed and trying to obtain some self veneration in the process.

I believe that all truths are presently coming from Jesus who has been given the commision from the creator of the universe to do this. Jesus himself is directing those he has chosen with guidance from Jehovah to speak the truth with the "spirit of his mouth".

The scriptures indicate that this method will have limited success amoungst the earths populace however, the limited success will eventually grow to an extraordinary size and bring with it wonderfull blessings.

At the present time however, I think you will agree that the truth is having very little success amoungst the worlds populace.

Isaiah 59 gives me much comfort in regards to the truths I am presently telling you in this post.

14 And justice was forced to move back, and righteousness itself kept standing simply far off. For truth has stumbled even in the public square, and what is straightforward is unable to enter. 15 And the truth proves to be missing, and anyone turning away from badness is being despoiled.

And Jehovah got to see, and it was bad in his eyes that there was no justice. 16 And when he saw that there was no man, he began to show himself astonished that there was no one interposing. And his arm proceeded to save for him, and his own righteousness was the thing that supported him

Re:Jw Reform From WithIn Or Out? - 2005/07/28 13:34 Dear BeachofEden,

The word I here used is preterism, but I am not a full preterist, because I think there are prophecies in the Bible that were not fulfilled in Bible times.

ablebodiedman,

I agree that the Christian scriptures are for the anointed, but this is not the same thing as saying that prophecies that have already been fulfilled necessarily must be fufilled again (and again). Yes, some of the early Christians remarked that prophecies of the Hebrew Scriptures were being fulfilled again in their own time, but we have to ask two questions: 1) does this give us the right to do the same with every prophecy that was ever uttered? and 2) were they being literalist about it? (in other words, did they really think that the prophets were prophesying about them, or were they just noting that there was an application of the scriptures in their own time)?

I think we often have a wrong idea of what is meant by "fulfill." We suppose that it means when a prediction is literally accomplished by a fact. There is another sense in which the word “fulfill” is used in the New Testament. Jesus fulfilled Scripture in another way. To “fulfill,” in the Scripture sense, is “to carry out perfectly;” it is to develop a principle or truth to its ultimate result. Thus “love is the fulfilling of the law;” that is, it carries law out to its last results. “Fulfill my joy;” that is, carry it fully out. “He will fulfil the desire of those who fear him;” that is, give them all they desire. “It becomes us to fulfill all righteousness;” i.e., carry it all out perfectly. Thus the law is fulfilled, obedience is fulfilled, joy is fulfilled, in this way, by being carried to perfection.

Jesus and the apostles fulfilled all things in the law and the prophets by carrying each thing fully out to its perfection. “I came not to destroy, but to fulfill.” He sees a germ of good in all things; he comes to fulfill it. He destroys nothing. Thus it was that Jesus did not destroy, but fulfill, the Mosaic law. He took up its essence into his own doctrine, and dropped its accidental form. He fulfilled its morality by a higher morality. The law written on stone was fulfilled by a law written in the heart. He changed it from a law of negation and prohibition into one of attraction, of positive good. Thus, when the law said, “Do not murder,” Christ fulfilled it by saying, “Love your enemy.”

So we should be wary about assuming that when the apostles use a scripture and say it was fulfilled in Jesus or in them that it simply means that a prediction came true.

Polemotheos,

This is exactly what has happened to the WTBTS.

The evil slave/man of lawlessness has been revealed through scriptural truths.

The next step in bible prophecy is for the evil slave/man of lawlessness to be done away with through the same process.

Truths coming from Jesus.

Someone however, has to recognise them as valid and then also tell others about them.

In this way the evil slave will be done away with.

Our Lord Jesus will ensure this prophecy is carried out to the full just as he has with so many others.

I doubt that Jesus will shout these truths directly from heaven.

So how will he do it?
