6 of 1, half dozen of the other - 2005/08/18 10:15 Desolation / Perdition Tomaytoes / Tomahtoes

Merriam Webster Definition

One entry found for desolation.

Main Entry: des·o·la·tion
Pronunciation: "de-s&-'lA-sh&n, "de-z&-
Function: noun
1 : the action of desolating
2 a : GRIEF, SADNESS b : LONELINESS
3 : DEVASTATION, RUIN
4 : barren wasteland

One entry found for perdition.

Main Entry: per·di·tion
Pronunciation: p&r-'di-sh&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English perdicion, from Late Latin perdition-, perditio, from Latin perdere to destroy, from per- through + dare to give -- more at PER-, DATE
1 a archaic : utter destruction b obsolete : LOSS
2 a : eternal damnation b : HELL

So why is this important?

Find the parallels and literal present day fullfillment of the following scriptures:

Matthew 24:15

15 “Therefore, when YOU catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place, (let the reader use discernment,) 16 then let those in Ju·de´a begin fleeing to the mountains.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

3 Let no one seduce YOU in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction (son of perdition KJV).4 He is set in opposition and lifts himself up over everyone who is called “god” or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god.

Here is what I found:

-: Desolation, Perdition and Destruction all mean the same thing!

-: "standing in a holy place,"and "he sits down in the temple of The God" means the same thing!

Deuteronomy 29:26 says this about serving small "g" god's:

26 And they proceeded to go and serve other gods and to bow down to them, gods that they had not known and he had not apportioned to them.

There is of course a small g god who has been apportioned to us. That is Jesus Christ.

Is there another small "g' god other than Jesus who Jehovah's Witnesses are presently serving/venerating?

Please consider the following article on this web site before you make a conclusion:

-: a disgusting thing is something that turns away from God in order to serve something else.

Deuteronomy 17

17 And YOU used to see their disgusting things and their dungy idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, that were with them;18 that there may not be among YOU a man or a woman or a family or a tribe whose heart is turning today away from Jehovah our God to go and serve the gods of those nations;

Serving the United Nations as an NGO fits the description of a "disgusting thing" in the scripture above.

-: "when YOU catch sight of the disgusting thing " and "Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed,"

I think you may agree that the excerpts above mean the same thing.

So now what ?
