Re:The Letter - 2005/10/17 18:42
Ok, let's look at this again..
*** 2 Thessalonians 2:1-2 ***
However, brothers, respecting the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we request of YOU not to be quickly shaken from YOUR reason nor to be excited either through an inspired expression or through a verbal message or through a letter as though from us, to the effect that the day of Jehovah is here.If you are writing this letter ("as though from us"), then I am to not be excited nor shaken by it's contents. This letter is declared by this scripture to be wrong and misleading.
*** 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 ***
Let no one seduce YOU in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction. He is set in opposition and lifts himself up over everyone who is called “god” or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god.The "it" that will not come is not the letter, but rather the presense of the Lord Jesus Christ, our being gathered together to him and the day of Jehovah.
Now the apostacty is in full evidence and the man of lawlessness has been revealed it is time to write the letter. This doesn't say anything about a letter properly declaring the presense of Jesus or the day of Jehovah, and while I don't think the apostacy is in full evidence, I don't see anybody at all fulfilling the role of the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction, who lifts himself up over everyone who is called “god” and who sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god.
So I am not sure what the basis of your letter is.
