Re:Is Mars being dooped? - 2005/11/05 10:20Are you kidding me????!!! THIS is your million dollar windfall????!!!!Run, RUN FAR AWAY! This is the famous "Nigerian Scam", look it up on the net, you'll see what I mean.
I get these emails at least once a week.
C'mon, think about it Mars....why would a complete stranger blindly trust you? Believe me, these people just play on the human sense of greed and wish for getting rich quick -- anything that seems too good to be true, IS! Go ahead, google "Nigerian Scam", even if the emails supposedly don't orignate from Nigeria, it's the same thing, different country.
And while I'm at it, if you ever get an email from an official place, such as PayPal, Ebay, or even your bank, NEVER give you personal numbers, Social Security, account numbers, etc. for this is a scam too. They use the company logos and everything to make it seem legit. They scare you with things like "you account will be dropped if you don't provide us the confirmation" or something similar. It's a scam to bilk you out of your money. This happened to a friend of mine --- be VERY careful!

Re:Is Mars being dooped? - 2005/11/05 11:11hahahaha, I got dooped.
I found this on the net;
The Nigerian scam is hugely successful. According to a 1997 newspaper article: "We have confirmed losses just in the United States of over $100 million in the last 15 months," said Special Agent James Caldwell, of the Secret Service financial crimes division. "And that's just the ones we know of. We figure a lot of people don't report them."
here is the version of the scam I got;
"In another form taken by the Nigerian scam, a church or religious organization is contacted by a wealthy foreigner who says he desires nothing more than to leave his considerable fortune to that particular group. Maybe he says he's led a life of sin and is now trying to make good, or maybe he claims that as a devout Christian he heard about their good works and wants to leave his money to help continue them, but whatever the backstory, it's just a tale. Once again, there will be delays, each of them necessitating the "beneficiary" to spend a few thousand here and a few thousand there in an effort to collect money that never materializes."
Well at least it was fun imagining the possibilities,
Re:Is Mars being dooped? - 2005/11/05 11:32Hehe Mars, that is kinda funny. Those scams are a dime a dozen my man...theyre all over the internet. If you search in Google under 'internet scams' you will find websites that list all of them, including the one you almost got sucked into.

Re:Is Mars being dooped? - 2005/11/05 16:11These people are muslims. I was wondering if there is anything in there religious text that would be useful in sharing with them to invoke some sort of morality.
