Re:Will There Be Anything Left? - 2005/03/26 19:22 Exactly, Pole. You got it.

Remember when the Pharisees told Jesus that he got his power from the Devil? He told them they were sinning against the holy spirit--the unforgivable sin. When Peter cut off a guy's ear (in an attempt to cut off his head), Jesus let him off with a warning.

Ah the thought thickens,

For suggesting wars are orchostrated by the Devil which many people claim to be "christain" participate in I am sinning against the holy spirit. The unforgivable sin.

Not only do I have a rafter in my eye but I also am sinning against the spirit. Wow. What profound logic.

Re:Will There Be Anything Left? - 2005/03/26 19:47 Whenever we claim something of the spirit is of the devil we're blaspheming the spirit.

Problem is, we can't repent because it's the spirit who leads us into repentence, and we've just been calling it/him satan. Hmmmmm.

This is where I have a problem with the JW's calling the rest of Christendom of Satan.
Not because it's offensive to Christendom (being offended is neither here nor there) God knows which are his and which aren't.

But for the sake of the JW's - if they really believe this.

Much shalom.

Re:Will There Be Anything Left? - 2005/03/27 02:25 Pole, when I did say anything about you? All I pointed out was the seriousness of two sins as seen by Jesus. And the one had nothing to do with saying that wars are orchestrated by the Devil (which is actually a new thought on this post and worthy of discussion). It had to do with Peter's attempt to kill someone.

Re:Will There Be Anything Left? - 2005/03/27 03:54 Please don't be so quick to take offense, Mars. I didn't see any posts marking you as having a big splinter.
You bring out that there seem to be many 'fine lines' in dispensing truth, and some of the problems we face when we see ones we think have it terribly wrong - it is our love of Jah and Christ and truth that we feel the need to correct their erroneous thoughts. But how do we go about it without actually pushing them further away? Well chosen words that reflect our own love is a good start.
Please consider the scriptures brought out in this essay "To Contend without being Contentious" http://www.truthortradition.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=498&mode=&order=0&thold=0
Good news to ponder and put to use.
It was the religious heirarchy that was leading God's people astray that were rebuked by Jesus and the apostles - not His skinned sheep. How can we condemn a sheep for believing what has been taught him by ones he trusts? We can't - but we can show them the light of Christ which is love, and plant the seeds of truth in their hearts. It is up to each of us as to whether we stand or fall.
Peace of mind to you, Mars.
With love, Bea

I think I get the idea.

If we can't apply the principles we speak of to ourselves then we are guilty of empty speach. Lots of words meaning nothing. Although they make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
