Re: keen on dates - 2007/03/20 12:52
Jehovah's Witnesses in general have always been too keen on dates... 1914, 1918, 1919, 1925, 1935, 1975...
According to me it doesn't matter really that much. According to some the appointment of the FDS has happend in de beginning of the 20th century... But while this appointment is indeed from important matter Mat chapter 24 seems to shed some light on the issue. The appointment of the FDS is not something who happens and that's that, and then they have total control... The FDS is a name given for them who try to the work that Jehovah had said to do, not as much to the world, but to the friends, to fellow believers, the verses at the end of the chapter make clear that he has to see them busy till the end of the current things (sorry not a native thongue). So nor the FDS, nor the GB are sitting on God's throne, and only by death will one be certain of the work he done and the fact if he can be entered into the Kingdom. They are a helping hand, and God and Jesus are watching. So it is not an appointment made in the past, but "made" in the future.
